— Croydon’s donation-based camping area

Nestled within Croydon’s scenic surrounds, Racecourse Rest offers a convenient and accessible location for travellers and nomads seeking a genuine outback experience. Situated next to the Rodeo Grounds at 2 Alldridge Street, Croydon, the site is approximately 1 km from the town centre and backs onto the Croydon Golf Course.

Camping is permitted by registration only.
Please obtain a permit at the True Blue Visitor Information Centre.
If arriving after hours, complete a self-registration form at the front of the VIC and place it, along with your donation, in the letterbox provided.

We understand the appeal of the open road, and Racecourse Rest provides for your essential needs. Enjoy the simplicity of life on the road with basic facilities, including amenities blocks and access to fresh water.

  • Croydon Shire Council wishes all travellers a safe and enjoyable stay.
  • Enjoy the breathtaking views, meet fellow adventurers, and embrace the spirit of the outback.

  • Maximum stay: 2 nights per vehicle

  • Vehicle access: Suitable for all vehicles and caravan sizes

  • Rubbish: Bins are not provided — please take your rubbish with you

  • Pets: Must be kept on a lead at all times; please clean up after them

  • Campfires: Not permitted

  • Cleanliness: Please leave the site as you found it so the next camper can enjoy it too

  • Refuse facility: Continue along Alldridge Street past the Racecourse Rest area and cemetery — see the town map for directions

  • Dump point: Located at Croydon Caravan Park with external access from Alldridge Street

  • Vehicle washing: Not permitted — Croydon Shire Council is currently operating under Level 1 water restrictions
