Centre Goals

The Croydon Child Care Centre aims to provide a service that offers developmentally appropriate programmes within a happy, safe, and calm environment. The Centre is committed to responding to the individual needs and abilities of each child, ensuring access and equity for all children and families within the community.

Croydon Child Care Centre – Educational Philosophy

The Croydon Child Care Centre provides an interest-based, developmentally appropriate programme designed to support the individual needs of both children and groups. The Centre implements the Early Years Learning Framework, which has been established as a national standard across Australia.

The programme is play-based, offering a variety of experiences throughout the day that foster development in social, emotional, gross and fine motor, language, musical, and cognitive skills. Children are encouraged to contribute their ideas to the programme regularly.

The Centre recognises that children learn most effectively through play. The programme is designed to respond to each child’s natural curiosity, offering opportunities to experiment, problem-solve, and explore their environment. It remains flexible and is easily adapted to meet the evolving needs and interests of all children in care.

Parental involvement plays a key role in supporting each child's development. The programme incorporates at least one item of parental input each week. Families are encouraged to share their cultural backgrounds and experiences, helping to shape a well-rounded and inclusive curriculum.

Staff members share daily updates about play-based activities through written communication with families.

All staff respect and value each child's individual ideas, working alongside them to explore new interests. They maintain respectful communication at all times and serve as positive role models in their interactions with children.
