Water Treatment Plant Operator

Croydon Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Water Treatment Plant Operator to support the delivery of safe, reliable and compliant water services for the Croydon community. This is a hands-on, technically focused role that contributes directly to essential infrastructure and the wellbeing of residents.

The Position

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of Croydon’s Water Treatment Plant and associated infrastructure.

This diverse role includes water quality monitoring, reticulation maintenance, pool operations and broader urban infrastructure support. You will also mentor other plant operators and participate in on-call and after-hours roster arrangements as required.

This is a key operational role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining critical services and delivering high standards of safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water treatment and reticulation systems
  • Monitor water quality and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support maintenance of pools and urban infrastructure
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reporting
  • Provide mentoring and support to plant operators

Skills & Experience Required

  • Certificate III in Water Operations (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in water treatment plant operations
  • Experience using SCADA and telemetry systems
  • Strong understanding of safety and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Sound technical judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of SWIM Local and Queensland regulations (desirable)
