Croydon Shire Council is seeking motivated Parks and Gardens Labourers to support the maintenance and presentation of parks, gardens and community facilities across the shire. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in their community and wants to contribute to maintaining Croydon's public spaces and infrastructure.

The Position

Parks and Gardens Labourers support the delivery of maintenance programs that help keep Croydon's parks, streetscapes and public facilities safe, functional and attractive for residents and visitors. The role involves assisting with mowing, garden bed maintenance, street tree management, weed control and irrigation maintenance, while also supporting the upkeep of playgrounds, street furniture and related infrastructure. Working as part of a team, you will operate and maintain a range of equipment and assist in delivering services that enhance the liveability and appearance of the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, gardens and public spaces across the shire
• Operate and maintain small plant and equipment
• Assist with mowing, weed control and irrigation maintenance
• Support maintenance of playgrounds and community infrastructure
• Contribute to safe and efficient delivery of maintenance programs

Skills & Experience Required

• Genuine interest in outdoor work, gardening and beautification programs
• Current Queensland Class C Driver Licence
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain
• Experience operating small plant equipment including mowers, brush cutters and chainsaws
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative
• Sound communication, numeracy and literacy skills
