The team from STEM MECHANICS is bringing three days of exciting, hands-on workshops to our Doris Casey Hall.
Designed for children aged 8 and over, these sessions run from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm and inspire young minds through science, technology, engineering and creativity.

Tuesday, 22 September

  • Straw Towers: Build the tallest, strongest tower using only tape and straws, learning bracing and reinforcement techniques.

  • Stop Motion Animation: Craft a mini film using various materials and digital elements.

Wednesday, 23 September

  • Suspension Bridges: Design a suspension bridge with paper, string and pipe cleaners, exploring forces and stability.

  • Minecraft Creative: Rebuild Croydon’s landmarks in Minecraft – in a safe, offline environment.

Thursday, 24 September

  • Mechanical Motion: Construct a mechanical toy featuring cams, rods and moving parts for unique animations.

  • Microbit Virtual Pet: Code a digital pet that can get bored, hungry and respond to button inputs.

Delivered by the skilled STEMMECHANICS team, these workshops nurture problem-solving, creativity and collaboration – key skills for future innovators.
