Croydon Shire Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Qualified Mechanic to join our workforce in a permanent, full-time capacity.
You’ll play a key role in delivering a safe, cost-effective, and efficient mechanical service—ensuring the ongoing operation of Council’s fixed and mobile plant, vehicles, and equipment. This hands-on position includes workshop-based duties as well as field servicing across Council sites.
You will also provide mentorship and on-the-job training to apprentices and plant operators, contributing to a skilled and future-ready mechanical team.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you’ll work closely with and support the development of one apprentice mechanic.
The successful candidate will undertake tasks within the Workshop and field work on Council sites.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Relevant Trade Certificate (Mechanic/Automotive Technician)
- Minimum of 3 years trade experience
- Practical experience with vehicle servicing, field maintenance, hydraulics, welding, and air conditioning
- Ability to train and supervise junior staff
- Good organisational, literacy and numeracy skills
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
