So You Want To Be a Councillor

Queensland’s next local government election is just around the corner, electon being held on 28 March 2020.  Members of the community wishing to nominate for election as a councillor or mayor, including those who have previously served as a councillor or mayor and those who are currently serving as a councillor or mayor, will be required to complete compulsory  ‘So You Want to be a Councillor’ training in order to nominate.

‘So You Want to be a Councillor’ training focuses on the requirements on local government election candidates and potential candidates as well as providing information on the roles and responsibilities of councillors and mayors.

To ensure that those who decide to nominate for election do not miss the opportunity to do so, the early completion of training is encouraged. Those nominating for election will need to have obtained a certificate showing successful completion of the training in order to complete the nomination process.
