Minister for Fire and Emergency Services
A State of Fire Emergency has been declared in 42 Local Government Areas across Queensland.
This follows significantly heightened fire weather conditions this week, which are expected to continue into next week.
Conditions mean it is vitally important that we don’t have new fires starting.
The community has a vital role to play – if you see a fire, report it immediately to Triple Zero (000).
This declaration is being put in place to help keep all Queenslanders safe and make sure we have the firefighting resources to combat those blazes that are continuing.
Please follow the instructions of authorities. You need to be responsible and not do anything that might ignite a fire.
There are significant penalties if you breach the declaration.
Our firefighters do a fantastic job, and many are volunteers who give up their own time to help their communities.
They are operating under demanding conditions, so please don’t make this harder for them.
