The Croydon Library is part of Rural Libraries Queensland. Rural Libraries Queensland (RLQ) is a partnership between the State Library and local governments in Queensland. By sharing a common catalogue of more than 300,000 items, every resident of RLQ councils is able to view real-time location and availability data on all RLQ collections.
The Croydon Library provides residents and visitors with access to a wide range of resources to entertain, inform and assist in daily living, with collections for adults, youth and children.
Resources are available in a variety of formats including books, large print books, magazines, DVD’s, and audiobooks suitable for all age groups. Language and literacy materials along with bookclub sets may be requested form the State Library.
Electronic resources such as eBooks, downloadable audio books, information databases and music are all available to RLQ members via the online catalogue.

Membership is free and new members are always welcome. To join the library, visit the library or complete a membership application form. Children under 18 years must be joined by a parent or guardian.
Library Membership Forms
The Rural Libraries Queensland online catalogue is available to all members of the Croydon Library. You can now get access to over a quarter of a million books, music, movies and more just by using your library membership card online anytime.
As a library member you will be able to search the collection, reserve a title, renew your loans and view a list of items you currently have on loan. There are also a number of free online resources available to you.
To get started you will need your library membership number and a PIN. These can be obtained by contacting the Library on 4748 7130.

Access is available to the internet and an IPad is available for users and offers free access to the RLQ online catalogue and information services to residents and visitors. Free wireless internet access is also available.
Broadband for Seniors Internet Kiosk is located at the Croydon Library and is available during opening hours to residents and visitors. The kiosk features computer(s) with broadband access for use by older members of our local community. We are also providing training, so beginners are very welcome! Broadband for Seniors is an Australian Government initiative to increase the skills of older Australians using computers and the internet.
The internet kiosk offers the opportunity for older people to discover how the web can play a great part in helping them to stay in touch with friends and family, along with offering access to the wealth of information available online.
Recently added to the Broadband for Seniors computers is a new Windows 8 touch screen computer. Call into the Library and try it out. Council’s Officers are available to give you a demonstration at any time.
If you are confined to our home due to illness or a disability and do not have anyone able to visit the library on your behalf, books and other library resources can be delivered to and collected from your home. Please contact library staff to discuss your requirements
Shire residents who live too far out of town to come to the library service may be eligible for our postal service for remote users. Please contact library staff to discuss your requirements.
Lending and Returning Items
All new members receive a library card. The library card enable members to borrow books and items from all RLQ libraries http://plconnect.slq.qld.gov.au/networking/directory-of-public-libraries/browse-rlq-libraries and access their library account from anywhere at any time of the day.
Items can be renewed as long as the item has not been reserved by another borrower. Members can renew their items through the online library catalogue, over the phone or in person at any of the RLQ library locations.
Reservations can be placed on items that are not currently available. To place a reservation, access the online library catalogue or ask library staff for assistance.
Library items can be returned to any library branch regardless of where they were borrowed.
Lost or Damaged Items
If you lose an item you have borrowed you must pay for it to be replaced. The replacement fee is the cost of the item plus GST.

If you have lost your library membership card or if it has been stolen, notify your library as soon as possible.
RLQ Tourist Membership
Tourist library membership is free to anyone who is residing or travelling within Regional and Outback Queensland.
New tourist members may join the library service online http://plconnect.slq.qld.gov.au/forms/rlq-tourist-card and a card will be mailed to their home address or PO Box within 5 working days.
Tourist members can also join in person at any branch of the RLQ. Children under 18 years must be joined by a parent or guardian who must show proof of current address.
